KAUTEK BM-BK003 | Dust Boot + Bump Stop

This is a protective service kit from KAUTEK (BM-BK003) designed to extend the lifespan of the front shock absorbers of BMW 3 Series E36 (1990-1998) vehicles. The set includes a Dust Boot that protects the shock absorber shaft from mud, water, and dust, and a polyurethane Bump Stop (Impact Absorber) that prevents the shock absorber from bottoming out when the suspension is fully compressed (such as when hitting a pothole).

  • Complete Protection: The boot protects the shock absorber seal from external factors, preventing oil leaks.
  • Impact Absorber: The bump stop prevents the shock absorber from hitting hard against metal in deep potholes, protecting its valves from damage.

Can I use the old boots? Old boots are usually torn or rotten. Dust entering through a torn boot can scratch the shaft of your new shock absorber and cause it to burst in a short time. In 20-year-old E36 vehicles, these parts are often considered "non-existent" and have turned to dust.
What does the bump stop do? The yellow/cream-colored sponge-like piece prevents metal from hitting metal when the shock absorber is fully compressed. If this piece is missing, the internal valve of your shock absorber can break in a deep pothole.
Will it fit M3 or Sport Spring vehicles? It fits all E36s with standard suspension. However, if your vehicle has excessively low "Sport Springs" (5cm and above), the length of the bump stop may be too long and affect comfort. In vehicles with sport springs, it may be necessary to cut one section from the end of the stop (consult your mechanic).
