Can only the ball joint be replaced? In W140 upper control arms, the ball joint is usually integrated or pressed into the control arm. Replacing only the ball joint can be cumbersome and sometimes risky. Considering metal fatigue, replacing the entire control arm is the safest option.
Is alignment necessary? Yes. Changing suspension parts can affect wheel angles (Camber/Caster). After installation, the vehicle must undergo alignment for tire longevity and road grip.
Is it the same as the right side? No. Front upper control arms are directional. This part is only for the LEFT (Driver) side. The angle for the right side is reversed.
