Why should I buy the one with a bracket instead of just getting the inner rubber cheaply? If you only buy the inner rubber, your technician will need to remove the old metal part from the press and install the new rubber at a precise angle. With the slightest alignment error, the bushing will tear again within a month, and the money you spent on pressing/labor will go to waste. When you buy it with a bracket, the part comes ready for installation with factory angles, requiring only 2 bolts to be removed and installed. The price difference is much less than the extra labor and time you would pay.
The steering shakes violently when I brake and the car pulls to the left, could this part be the reason? Yes, if your brake discs are not warped in E36 chassis, the shaking of the steering during braking and the car bobbing (pulling left/right) is primarily caused by the tearing of these "lollipop" bushings. A torn bushing releases the wheel, causing it to flex backward during braking, instantly disrupting the car's balance.
Only my left bushing is torn, can I leave the right side unchanged? You can mechanically install it, but we definitely do not recommend it. If your left bushing is torn, your right bushing has also stretched and worn out over the same mileage. If you reset only the left side and leave the right side old, the front suspension geometry of the vehicle will work asymmetrically, and during braking, the car will start to pull to the right. For driving safety and alignment, you must change both the right (BM-BS018) and left bushings together.
