BMW E36 Front Crank Seal ELRING (M40 Oil Leak Solution)

ELRING 748.889 | Original German Viton® Quality | Timing and Crank Protection

⚠️ IMPORTANT TIMING BELT AND SCRATCH WARNING:
  • Timing Belt Failure Disaster: M40 engines are timing belt driven. If the old BMW E36 Front Crank Seal starts leaking oil, this hot engine oil seeps directly onto the rubber timing belt. The lubricated belt deteriorates quickly, skips teeth, or breaks! When the belt breaks, the pistons hit the valves, and the engine is completely destroyed. The moment you see oil sweating from the front, replacing this seal is a vital NECESSITY.
  • Master Craftsmanship: When installing a new BMW E36 Front Crank Seal, it is crucial that the technician does not SCRATCH the steel surface of the crankshaft while trying to remove the old seal with a screwdriver. A scratched crankshaft will continue to leak oil, no matter how good the seal is.

Specially imported for BMW's legendary E36 chassis with timing belt 4-cylinder (M40) engines, the ELRING brand BMW E36 Front Crank Seal is here to cut through those dangerous oil leaks at the front of the engine like a knife! This rubber ring, which is responsible for keeping engine oil inside at the point where the crankshaft meets the front pulley, hardens over time due to the heat and friction generated by high RPMs over tens of thousands of kilometers, losing its sealing capability. An old and hardened BMW E36 Front Crank Seal that leaks oil down from the front cover, leaving the timing belt in oil and creating black stains in your parking lot, is the biggest indicator that your vehicle is on the brink of breaking down. To protect your engine from that massive timing belt failure and rectification costs, you can reset the front sealing of your engine block with this brand new BMW E36 Front Crank Seal, produced with "Das Original" ELRING quality, the factory (OEM) sealing supplier of German automotive giants. Made from fluorocarbon (Viton) material that is fully resistant to high temperatures and the acidic nature of synthetic oils, this imported BMW E36 Front Crank Seal wraps around your crankshaft like a clamp, providing a definitive and permanent solution to oil leaks.

  • Vital Engine Protection: By preventing engine oil from reaching the timing belt, it definitively stops the belt from deteriorating, fraying, and the engine from bending valves (engine eating).
  • Perfect Oil Sealing: A brand new BMW E36 Front Crank Seal traps oil inside the engine block, eliminating oil consumption issues and that ugly sludge on the front surface of the engine.
  • ELRING Das Original Quality: Manufactured from premium materials that show maximum resistance to friction, excessive engine temperatures, and high pressure, meeting original BMW standards.
  • Flawless Fit: Fits millimeter-perfect into its slot in the front cover, and when installed with proper craftsmanship, it absolutely does not require any additional silicone or liquid gasket.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Oil is leaking from the front of the engine downwards, my mechanic said it's the oil pan gasket. If I only buy this BMW E36 Front Crank Seal, can I understand the problem myself? Oil leaks from the front can originate from the oil pan gasket, oil pump, or front crank seal. However, if oil is seeping from behind the timing cover (from top to bottom) in M40 engines, the main suspect is the crank seal or camshaft seal. Your mechanic must remove the timing cover to pinpoint leaks in this area accurately. If the oil pan is removed with a misdiagnosis, the real danger of leaks in the timing area will continue.
Oil is dripping from the junction of the transmission and engine in my vehicle. Does this product fit that area? No, it does not fit. The sealing part located on the transmission side (the back of the engine) behind the flywheel is called the "Rear Crank Seal" and has a much larger diameter. The product in this listing is a small diameter front seal that fits only on the side with the radiator and belts, that is, the front of the engine. Please clarify whether the leak is from the front or the back (transmission side) of the engine before ordering.
