Does it come with a chrome/painted outer cover? No. This product is just the plastic mechanism (robot) that is hidden inside the bumper and sprays water. The "Headlight Washing Cover" visible from outside the bumper is a separate part and needs to be removed from your old robot and attached to this new robot.
My vehicle is losing water, is the problem definitely with this part? The biggest reason for the constant draining of the windshield washer reservoir in BMWs is the loosening of the hoses coming from the washer pump over time or the bursting of the o-ring (seal) inside the headlight washing robot. If water is dripping down from the left corner of the bumper, the source of the problem is most likely this robot.
Can I install this on the right side (passenger side)? **NO.** Headlight washing robots are asymmetric. The angles of the nozzles at the tip that sprays water to the headlights are set differently for the left and right sides. If you install a left robot on the right, it will spray water outside instead of onto the headlight.
