Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are the seals velvet (flocked)?
Yes, this is the most critical detail in E36 restorations. The parts of the product facing the interior should be soft velvet coated to match the original roof and pillar upholstery of the vehicle. They do not look simple like flat rubber seals and do not create friction noise.
Does it cut wind noise?
The shrinking and shortening of seals over time is a chronic issue in E36 chassis. This causes wind noise to come from the corners of the doors. The new seal set significantly reduces wind whistling and outside noise by filling the door gap to factory standards.
How is the installation done, is adhesive required?
No, adhesive is not required. The seals are installed using a snap-on (clipped) system over the metal channel on the body. It is sufficient to remove the old seal and carefully fit the new one into the channel at the corners.
Will my doors close hard?
New seals are fuller in form compared to the old crushed seals. Therefore, during the first 1-2 weeks after installation, you may need to push the doors a bit harder to close them. As you get used to the seals, the closing firmness will return to normal and complete sealing will be achieved.
